I am helping a fellow Etsian out due to something going on that I am not at liberty to say. Once she gives me the ok I will update you all. She is the owner of ArretsPlace and Zzazz on Etsy along with her shop Zzazz on Artfire. She was there for me when my dad ill in September of 2009 up to his death in May of 2010 and when my grandma passed away in February of 2010. I would like to return the favor in any way possible. WOW, its been a crazy few months here. I no longer have the LuxSpa shop due to some unfortunate circumstances. But I am slowly moving all of my items to JodisCraftEmporium. THE 2ND ANNUAL AUTISM RALLY

First of all, I would like to thank everyone that helped or donated to this awesome rally. We could not ask for a better day with the weather and the wonderful people that stopped by to come see this fun event. It was 90 degrees and windy but the sun shined bright all day long.

Here are some pics:

This wonderful artist here made these beautiful bags with Autism symbols on them. They were absolutely beautiful.

These ladies were sitting and enjoying their hot dogs and enjoying the fun.

This is where they sold the T-shirts, bracelets, chocolate, candy, and books about Autism. Plus the sheet in the background that the kids had a chance to draw on with fabric markers.

These pictures below are from the sensory stations that people had the chance to participate in. They had a ticket, which was called "Passport to Autism Awareness" and they get a hole punched into their cards to show that they completed a station.

This was the water station! Everyone had a lot of fun at this station.

This was the swing, chair, and sand station.

This was the balls and tubes stations.

Plus we also had prizes to give out when each individual completed the sensory stations.

We also had a Auction Basket Raffle.

This shows all the baskets that we had. We had over 30 baskets for the auction. There were 3 total baskets from the wonder people from Etsy. Thank you guys so much.

We did have some fun with the baskets being that it was sssoooo windy outside. It was a huge job for Abby and Jen to make sure that these baskets didn't fall on the ground. They did an awesome job. Plus Emily sneaking in to put her tickets in for the basket raffle, lol.

Second Annual Olean Area Autism Awareness Rally

Dear concerned citizen and business owner,

I am part of a committee organizing a local fundraiser to raise funds for Olean area families affected by Autism. This committee is made up of parents that have a child with Autism and professionals that work to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Autism.

As you may have seen in the news, the latest CDC research shows that 1 in 150 children are now diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a staggering 1 in 98 boys. Our rural area has not escaped these statistics. Unfortunately, we have limited access to educational and treatment resources that are available in larger cities.

We still believe that we can make a difference. We are organizing the Second Annual Olean Area Autism Awareness Rally. This event will be held on April 25th from 1-4 PM at Jamestown Community College- Olean. This exciting event will include educational materials about Autism, Autism Awareness materials for purchase, a basket raffle, food and beverages, and children’s entertainment including a “Passport to Autism Awareness!” All proceeds raised from this fun and family oriented event will benefit our local efforts to support families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. Proceeds from our last Autism Rally helped to establish the Olean Area Autism Resource Library which houses educational books and videos available to parents and professionals.

What can you do to help? We are looking for donations of food, gift certificates, and products to put in our baskets for the Basket Raffle. Cash donations will also be gratefully accepted. Any help of any kind will help to make a difference in the life of a child affected by Autism. All donations are tax-deductible, and all major sponsors will be recognized on our Autism Rally t-shirts. Checks can be made out to “Mental Health Association of Cattaraugus County-Autism Rally” and sent to 502 N. Union St. Olean, NY 14760.

Our theme this year is “Family, Community, and Schools: An integrated partnership for serving children on the Autism Spectrum”. We look forward to partnering with you this year to benefit a great cause.

~Fingerprints Friday~

My Fingerprints Friday would be the wonderful people that helped me through my depression over last weekend. I was really at a bad point and no clue why. I had no cares to do anything and to feel for anything. It lasted from Thursday to Monday and that is why you don't see anything posted in my blog for a week. My hubby, best friends, and friends from Etsy helped me out tremendously. My hubby let me be by myself for 2 hours and also let me relaxed for the whole day Sunday. My Etsy friends and especially the wonderful SNSers sat and talked with me all night Saturday. You always have to thank God for the wonderful people you have surrounding you at your time of need. And he was helping me by surrounding me with people that absolutely care about me and how i was feeling. So here is a big shout out to all my Etsian friends that helped me out, best friends, and my hubby. That is my fingerprint Friday of God.

Follow Me on My Journey to My Weight Loss Goal (Fourth Weigh In)

WEEK THREE: 169

I am so proud of myself right now. So far I have dropped 2.5 lbs. since biggest loser started at work. Since September of 2008 to now I have lost a total of 6.5 lbs. I am slowly getting my energy back and my metabolism. I upped my exercise routine and now I am borrowing my dad's Wii Fit to add to my routine for the weekends only. Hoping with our tax we will have enough to buy a Wii and Wii Fit so I can work out every night. But I am definitely going to work hard because of it being Super Bowl weekend. Sorry everyone, can't give up the pizza and wings but I promise not to pig out. Next week I will have pictures to show my progress and hope to see results. If you don't think you can do what I am doing, you are wrong. It takes focus and the push to do it. Find an outlet, like blogging, to keep you going on the success of it. WEEK THREE: 170

I am still happy that I lost 1/2 lb because my clothes are starting to feel baggy. So I am guessing this is my week for the toning. I have been doing 15crunches, 10 each on side crunches, superman and 10 push ups. So this week I am picking it up a notch. Right along with those three (bumping them up 5 each of course), I am doing 20 (10 on each side) bicycle moves (which is me being on my back and peddling in the air), and 10 on each side for leg lifts. Slowly bringing different types of exercises into my workout. But here is a before facial pic of me:

As you noticed my face has slimmed down a little bit which to me is an awesome sign.

I am 36, married, no kids, a dog and two kitties. I started scrapbooking almost 3 years ago after my wedding. When I ran out of pics to scrapbook, as you can only do so many wedding layouts and pet layouts. I turned to making cards. I joined etsy on march 21 2008 and found i have been blessed with great friends and people who love my cards. I especially am happy when a buyer comes back. It is a great feeling. I recently got a request for 30 cards to make for a woman battling cancer, who would like to give out inspirational cards at the hospice. It is nice to know my cards can lift spirits and put smiles on the faces of loved ones.
I hope I can sell my cards for a long time to come and hope to meet even more great people then I already have :)

Jubilee Roll Pillow Cover

Jubilee is a fabulous decorator roll pillow cover. Made with 100% cotton decorator fabrics. This is a heavier fabric, very sturdy and long wearing.

The main fabric has pink and chocolate brown design throughout. The contrast is a pink and chocolate brown stripes with matching drawstring ties.

Measurements are 25" around and 19" long. If your pillow is shorter in length, just gather the ends as I have and tie the drawstring ties around to make a tootsie roll wrapper style.

Afghan Baby REVERSIBLE with Lilac Edging

This beautiful ivory afghan has the exact same pattern on both sides. The switch is, that one side has a beautiful lilac pattern and the other side is a bright contrast of multi colored yarn. And if you love a colorful afghan for your baby, this is the one for you.

It's very soft and cozy and measures 39 inches by 35 1/2 inches.

FINGERPRINTS FRIDAY

My fingerprint Friday, even though everyone will cringe at this, is the snow that we received. To me this is a huge fingerprint from God in which he is trying to cleanse our wonderful earth. I know that we are having the frigid temps that brought us as low as almost -20 wind chill but it looks absolutely beautiful outside. I was thinking to myself "why complain about the snow, this is a gift from God and to enjoy it".

Ok, now you are probably thinking she is crazy. But I am not crazy because I use to hate the snow. I was almost in a terrifying accident 7 years ago with my older son in the car. I was delivering a cake for my dad for his birthday and the weather was just fine with no snow. After I delivered the cake and waited a little bit for my dad the snow started falling heavily. So I decided that I better go so I don't get caught in it. (Just a little insight, my dad lived a mile up a hill and winters aren't too friendly there) So i go about 5 miles an hour down the hill and my car slides off the road and almost off a cliff. I thank God everyday that he planted a tree to where it held my car so I would plunge down the cliff.

Did I scare you, didn't mean to but it really did happen. For many years, I dreaded to going out in the snow. But this year, it doesn't seem so bad. I look outside and thank God for the beautiful snow and what it does to our wonderful earth. Plus, for the many picture perfect scenes that I would love to take but unfortunately don't have my camera with me to do so, lol.

Snow is my fingerprint of Friday :D What fingerprint has God left you on a friday.

Isn't this lovely fabric. I decided to use the main fabric for the center of the pillow and the contrasting fabric for the sides with matching ties. I made it wide enough just in case your bolster/roll pillow is longer. If not, just gather the ends and wrap the ties around as I did to make it fit tighter.

As all of the rest of my covers, it is washable in cold water on permapress. It may need a touchup with the iron.

This cover fits my roll pillow for easy on and off. My roll pillow measures 17" long and 25" around. The ties are more than long enough to create bows on each side. The contrast fabric is also made of 100% cotton and accents very nicely.

Week Two: 170.5 lbs.

Wow in just one week I lost exactly a pound. I am so proud of myself. What I remember that was told to me is that if you at least loose a pound per week then it will be a lot harder to to put it back on. For the whole week I just portioned my foods and walked the extra steps to get where I am going. I had one 20 oz Pepsi and junk one day during the week (yes I have a cheat day). I believe that you shouldn't take everything out because later down the road you are going to want it so badly that you will pig out on it.

Starting tomorrow I will be working on sit-ups and keeping up what I did last week. I am slowly working on fitting a healthy routine in tight and busy schedule. My family is routing for me and they know that I can do it. Sorry no pictures this week. I thought I would take them every other week to see if you can see the difference that way.

Wish me luck for next week and hope I take off a little more weight.

~My Wonderful Husband~

My fingerprints Friday is dedicated to my wonderful husband of almost 5 years. He is my knight in shining armor and the love of my life. When I met him I already had my older son Tyler. He never turned his nose when he found out that I already had a son. He wanted to be the daddy that Tyler would never have. I am so very thankful for it.

He was with me through thick and thin and the hard road that laid ahead for us. He never ever gave up on us even when the going was rough. We worked together when we were told that my son Tyler was borderline Autistic with PDD-NOS and he helped me get back to college to get my degree in Accounting. He helped me get back on my own two feet and be the person that I am.

I knew from day one that this was the man I was going to marry. My mom said we shall wait and see because I just met him. I told her my dream guy was tall, works, has a head on his shoulders, would love me for me, and be the one to kiss me first. He was everything I expected him to be and I thank my lucky stars for that.

God moves in mysterious ways and I thank him everyday for the wonderful husband that I have.

Lupus Awareness Ribbon

This was out by special request a long time ago and I thought I would make one for my shop to help The purple ribbon is a symbol of Lupus awareness, and the ceramic butterfly is the mascot of women with lupus. I will be blogging about this once a week. I am participating with the Biggest Loser where I work. I had my first weigh in to start it out. I was kinda shocked that I still managed to loose 4 lbs since I last weighed myself back in September. I was so happy about that.

Anywho, I need to loose 50lbs to be where I am suppose to be. You are probably thinking, she doesn't need to loose weight, she looks good the way she does. Well, my clothing knows how to hide those pesky lbs.

Right now, I have only been working on proportioning my foods, practically eating mini meals. I haven't had a drink of soda since Sunday. But I believe in not taking your favorite foods away. I believe in eating a little bit of it once in a great while. I noticed that I tried to take chicken wings away from me for 2 months and the ending result is that I splurged on it. Then afterwards felt guilty about splurging. So now if I have a craving, I just get enough to satisfy me and then move on.

Starting tomorrow, I am going to get my exercise in. I am going to try to do some crunches, push ups, and supermans. You are probably wonder how I could fit exercising into my schedule with work, kids, house, and my crafts? Its easy, just make yourself fit it in. You have to fit in some me time at least once a day to work on your health and well being.

Hopefully, on Monday I will have some great news with my weight loss. Here is to hoping and praying to getting myself back on track.

Fingerprints Friday

Today I would have to say I saw the fingerprint of God in my beautiful boys. Today is the last Friday before I go back to work, my older son goes back to school, and my younger son goes to daycare. They are my lasting fingerprints of God and they remind me of the love that we share everyday to eternity. (My hubby was driving while I was sneaking pictures of the boys)

My older son Tyler is my miracle baby. I almost lost him three times when I was pregnant for him. Then a month before his second birthday he was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum (Pervasive Development Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified, also known as PDD-NOS). We started Early Intervention right away and he has grown and prosper to this very day. He is now a third grader with As and Bs. But this year we hit a hard, rough patch. He was having consistent meltdowns and a few behavioral problems at home and at school. So I pray everyday that he would have a good day the next day. I left my full time job (financial institution) for him and now work a part time job (teacher's aide) so I could be home a lot more with him when he needed me. Financially, it is really hard but the best part is that when my son needs me I am there.

My younger son Dawson is a little pistol but he is so darn cute that bypass that streak. He loves to rough house with daddy and mommy. He loves sports and a lot of cartoons. We do have the bed time issues with not sleeping on his own, potty training issues, and behavioral issues. But I love him no matter what.

My children are so precious to me and you can see the fingerprint that God has left on them everyday.

I have always loved just about any kind of art and craft, and have dabbled in a number of different crafts throughout my life.

I discovered scrapbooking and paper piecing six years ago, after retiring from my day job (nursing) and finding myself here at home with a lot more free time on my hands. Soon after that, I started making handmade cards.

Designing handcrafted cards has seemed like a natural progression to me, particularly since I have always loved giving and receiving cards. I had quite a collection of greeting cards, even before I started creating handmade cards myself!

I get the inspiration for my cards and paper piecings from a variety of sources, including beautiful scrapbook papers and embellishments, songs, movies, quotes and sayings, my family, my friends, and my dogs. My husband and I are the proud owners of two adopted ex-racing greyhounds.

I am constantly on the watch for fun or inspirational quotes and sayings to incorporate into my cards and paper sets.

I love the sense of creativity and satisfaction that I get from making cards, scrapbook layouts, and paper piecing sets that other people enjoy.

To Start The New Year

Today my hubby and I had a couple hours to ourselves. So we decided to pack away all of the Christmas items that we had up. I was ssssoooo amazed how fast it was to put them away compared to how long it took for us to put them up. We finally have our livingroom back now and its all cozy again. My holiday items that I was using for my shops are all packed away and awaiting to be opened up later in the year. I am looking forward to what the New Year brings. Hopefully more happiness and prosperity especially to everyone.

Life Can Be Hard

Just 3 months ago I made a huge decision to go from a full time job in finance to a part time job as a teacher's aide (one on one). I had to make this decision because I needed to be home more with my family.

My 8 year old son is borderline autistic with PDD-NOS and has been having some rough patches. I really needed to be home for him because of the meltdowns and rash behavior problems that are popping up everywhere.

I also have a 2 year old that is a plan old rough houser and a typical toddler. He has bed time issues with going to bed at 8 and sleeping in his own bed. And don't get me started on potty training. Well, I can say he hasn't been that bad with it. He does like sitting on the potty.

My hubby works 12 to 14 hours a day. So he is totally exhausted when he gets home. And his income is slowly dieing cuz the holiday seasons are gone. January to April is when there is hardly any income.

But, anywho, I took a major pay cut and now I am finding that its killing our income. I feel guilty cuz I already dug into both of my son's savings accounts, in which I told myself that I would never do. Talk about the guilt it leaves.

I promised myself for 2009 that I will never touch my boy's savings, keep my pennies pinched at all times, and don't purchase items in my shops unless I made sales (which have been few and far between). I am also not going to purchase unnecessary items either. Hopefully, 2009 will be very good to us cuz I don't know how much more guilt and depression I can take.

P.S. - Sorry to bring out a sob story.

The dishcloths measure at 7 1/2 inches tall and 7 1/4 inches wide. If I don't have the yarn in stock, it does take one week to come in. Takes a day to make two dishcloths give or take. So if you like the dishcloths but want a certain color please give ample amount of time for ordering and putting together. I do request that a 50% deposit is put on the custom order for materials and then other 50% when item has been completed. If you decide to change your mind on the dishcloth I only refund 25% back of the 50% because of the time I had to use to get materials and plus for the materials that I have to keep.
